More news about wacky Fr Kennedy

This just in from Catholic Culture:

Brisbane priest defies archbishop; fear of violent confrontation stalls disciplinary action
February 23, 2009

A defiant priest, a bomb threat, and warnings of an angry confrontation prevented a peaceful transition at an embattled parish in the Brisbane, Australia archdiocese this Sunday. Archbishop John Bathersby had sought to remove the pastor after a year of turmoil, saying that St. Mary's parish in South Brisbane-- a community known for its liturgical and theological novelties-- was in danger of breaking away from the Catholic Church.

About 1,500 people attended Mass on Sunday morning at St. Mary’s to show their support for Father Peter Kennedy, who refused to turn over keys to the parish to a newly appointed administrator, Father Ken Howell. A public rally in support of Father Kennedy, held later in the day, attracted only a small crowd.

Police, citing safety concerns after receiving a bomb threat, advised Father Howell not to go to his new parish, and Archbishop Bathersby said he would appoint a mediator to resolve the dispute and help ensure that his decree appointing new administrator is obeyed. Father Kennedy has said that he will take legal action to block the archbishop's move.

I am getting quite tired of reading about this man. I fail to understand why he insists on acting as though the parish he has been in charge for 28 years is actually his to do with as he pleases. He has clearly forgotten that it is not his property - it belongs to the Archdiocese of Brisbane. He has forgotten that +Bathersby is his boss, and that he needs to do as he is told.
Ohh, but that's right. The Church Heirachy is corrupt and solied. Riiiiight.

EDIT: Father Z has been covering this for a long time. He has lots of info on his blog.

The Cost of Abortion

With the American Presidential Election looming ever closer, one of the issues, to me, the most important of all issues, up for debate is that of abortion.

I cannot understand people who think that the state of the economy is more important than 4000 American babies dying every DAY. I can never understand why people place more importance on the cost of fuel than on the unborn.

To all those who might disagree with me, and think that abortion is not an issue in light of the present economic crisis, I encourage you to watch this little video by RealCatholicTV.com. It has a pan-denominational concept, and you will find it quite enlightening.

If you agree that abortion is literally the most horrendous thing to be legalised since the Nazis legalised the holocaust, then still, watch it. You will be just as enlightened.

Leave your comments and thoughts and we shall discuss.

For my Facebook Readers...

Yes, I am aware that this is the second post in one day. No, I will not burn out my enthusiasm for this new project prematurely.

For those of you who are on my Facebook, and who are reading this blog from there, a few things to mention.

1. Do not mention my real name, for the sake of a little anonymity, and to keep the whole theme of the Outside of the Asylum going.
2. Since Facebook is no longer accessible from my home computer, this will be my only method of online communication. Therefore, if you would like to comment on my useless rantings, and would like a reply, leave not a commment at Facebook, but come to my actual blog and leave a comment, so I may reply speedily, and not have to go into Uni or drive twenty minutes to Angela's house to use a computer.
3. Visit my blog often to raise hit numbers. A link to the Outside of the Asylum will be provided at the end of each post.

Does anybody know why I call my blog The Outside of the Asylum? If people don't know, I'll post an explanation soon.

The first post in a while, and the apparent consequences

As you may or may not have realised, I have not posed since my maiden blog post, more than a year ago now.
Everything must be updated.
I also need to find a new image hosting site.

But, hopefully, I will start to post on interesting matters at least on a weekly basis, and thus develop a wide reading audience.

But alas, I have Music History tutorial soon, so yes.

The Maiden Blog Post - A Welcome to All

I welcome you all to The Outside of the Asylum, where you may sit back, with a martini, or other alcoholic beverage in hand, and immerse yourself in good Catholicism, and other things that might be of interest to me or you.
I especially extend the warmest of welcomes to all those from CAF who decided to click my signature and visit this most auspicious blog.

But, why is this blog called the Outside of the Asylum?
Funny you should ask.

In Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, there is a character called John Watson, or as he is better known, Wonko the Sane. I have decided long ago to take upon such a humorous name as a pseudonym, and to name this blog after his house, which is a refuge from the insanity of the world outside its inside-out walls.

So, the first order of business.
A dedication in Blog-Post form to my Bishop and Cardinal - George Pell.

Though I have never met the man, he is my role-model in faith. He stands up for the Church, his faith, and the Truth no matter what the cost, even if it means telling off catholic politicians who are voting against what they should be, and him getting into trouble for it.

Ah, the cappa magna.

One often laments the fact that we see so little of these huge cloaks.

Thank God for Cardinal Pell.
